Phil Fulmer at Tennessee! Besides the Peyton Manning years, his high profile recuits have done a whole lot of nothing! It always strikes me as crazy too because they tend to be pretty decent NFL player (i. e. Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Peyton Manning, etc. ). But they bring in top 15-to-10 recruiting classes almost every single year and don’t amount up to the pre-season predictions.
Dave Wannstead or however you spell it. Pittsburghs always getting 4 or 5 star recruits and then lose to UCONN. Al Groh coaches my hoos so i can’t say him.
I agree with the first guy. Phil Fulmer is a great recruiter but prehaps the worst coach in the SEC. He somehow coaches the talent out of the kids he brings in there.
I would say Bob Stoops. Oklahoma has consistently had good recruiting classes and keeps falling short of greatness (not to mention getting embarrassed in BCS games).
Dude. . . . Ya gotta go with Texas. They consistently are in the top five. Michigan has been in the top 3 ONLY one time in the past 5 or so years.
Michigan was like 12th this year by one ranking system.
DO NOT FORGET that the recruiting rankings are subject to biases. You think anyone wanted to go and evaluate ONE-STAR prospect like Joe Thomas (3rd or 4th overall selection by CLE)?
What about USC?
Michigan actually has standards and they cannot sign players like Vince Young.
What about FSU?
At least Michigan can still break the top ten.

as of late, probably larry coker out of Miami. . . his last team was horrible(for Miami) and he always has a great recruiting class.
