What Is One Wrestler You Saw Debut And You Immediately Had High Expectations For?

One wrestler that when you saw debut you thought he would make it far in WWE/TNA. For me when they were hyping up R Truth’s debut on WWE, I thought WWE was going to take him seriously, but then in his debut match I saw that he wasn’t gonna make it far.
BQ- What two wrestlers or former wrestlers would make a good announce team?

Jack Swagger and Ted DeBiase.
When Swagger debuted on ECW, I knew he was going to turn out to be a top wrestler on the brand. He was a good wrestler and he was winning most of his matches, so I knew he was going to make it far. His feuds were really good and and I could immediately picture him as a champion. Some wrestlers just have something about them that makes them seem like world title material from when they first start off in the WWE, and for me Jack Swagger was one of those wrestlers.
Ted DeBiase was another one that I could see going really far right after he debuted. I think it was just the way that he started his career on Raw. He came out and made a big deal of who his father was and who his tag team partner was going to be at Night of Champions. He didn’t have a traditional debut in the WWE and that’s what made him stand out to me. Plus, he’s a pretty good wrestler, so I can see him having a really good career.
BQ: I would say JBL and really anyone else. JBL is hilarious on the mic and one of the best commentators the WWE ever had. He really makes a match come alive when he’s commentating, regardless of who is next to him at the announcers table.

I didn’t see John Morrison debut, in fact the first John Morrison match I saw was his IC title match against Rey Mysterio, but as soon as I saw that I had high hopes for him, I can see him holding one of the big belts in the next year or two and eventually being one of the top dogs, provided he doesn’t cripple himself with that high-flying style of his!
When Ron Killings debuted as K Kwik I had high hopes for him, but it looks like WWE just don’t know how to use the guy, he’s had two runs with them as a constant mid-carder and occasional jobber to the stars, whereas he did get a good run in TNA.
And the “B” question?
Mick Foley and The Rock – I think they’d play off each other brilliantly

To the dismay of many in the section, I will select John Cena.
When John Cena performed in his first televised match on SmackDown, he dominated Kurt Angle for nearly half the match. He sold the match well, and he made me believe it when he told Kurt Angle that he possessed the quality of “Ruthless Agression”.
BQ: If he were in better health I would say “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. My other selection would have to be JBL. He’s done it already. But when he called a match with Michael Cole on SmackDown, he was excellent. It was always great to hear their interaction, in those days.

Going back a ways, Magnum T. A. With his movie-star good looks, charisma, athletic ability, and wrestling skills, I knew he was a future World Champ. He was a hit wherever he wrestled, the fans loved him.
Then the car wreck ended his career. He would have been NWA World Champion (he was Ric Flair’s hand-picked successor) and would have been one of the NWA/WCW’s biggest stars in the late 80’s through the 90’s.
BQ: Dusty Rhodes and Jim Cornette. Those two were so entertaining on the mic that the fans would probably tune in to listen to them more than to see the wrestling matches.

DH Smith, even before the commentator said he was British Bulldog’s son, i was impressed by his skills against carlito in 1 min after the match, and he had the size and looks to be a good and a future main eventer. . . and for now, he isn’t
BQ : Carlito would make a funny commentator , and The Miz can make a great heel commentator

Evan Bourne: Has all the talent in the world to be great. But my expectations just went out the window for him now, because WWE just uses him as a local jobber to push others in front of him.
But as for now, I have high expectations for Elijah Burke in TNA.
BQ: “John Bradshaw Layfield” and “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.
November 30th, 2009 at 3:26 am
Brock Lesnar, just by watching him look like a beast i knew he was the next big thing,he even buried legends like the rock, hogan, flair.
i always knew he was gonna go to the top. and he was an awsome wrestler in my opinion so i think he did deserve his push.
BQ:Roddy Piper and Ric Flair i guess, they were good on the mic they would make a good announce team

I expect alot of things from Drew Mcintyre and Jack Swagger as well.
I was surprised at first by Evan Bourne, but now i think he’s only a jobber on Raw. I mean seriously, when’s the last time he won using the shooting star press? Doesn’t that have to hurt regardless?
BQ:I would like to hear santino marella and Matt Striker. I feel like they would have a crazy team
November 30th, 2009 at 4:47 am
I had high expectations for Cryme Tyme (yeah I know, not a single wrestler but they fit the bill) . . . Had CT been brought in as heels, they’d have more television time.
After the amount of vignettes that aired, I was disappointed with how they were used once they made their debut.
November 30th, 2009 at 5:32 am
i would say rey the way the they pumped him up for smackdown.
BQ: rock and farooq(ron simmons) rock would have the wits and every time he would say something simmons would say “DAMN”
BTW- you do know that r truth was K-kwik when the road dogg broke up with billy gunn. ?
November 30th, 2009 at 5:43 am
When John Cena Debuted.
Kurt Angle Was Having A Open Challenge For Anybody And Cena Came Out And Said I’m John Cena And Then Punched Kurt Angle. . . They Had A Pretty Good Match.
Right Then I Knew Cena Was Gonna Make It Far In The Buisness.
BQ:JBL And Tazz.
November 30th, 2009 at 5:57 am
I think after watching CM Punk’s debut on ECW i said to myself “He is a future world champion” and i was right on 2 separate occasions.
BQ: JBL & Damian Demento.

BQ: Santino or JBL and Kennedy

BQ:Paul Ellering & Road Warrior Animal.
November 30th, 2009 at 8:21 am
For me it was Jack Swagger. the way they had him dominate his first few opponents and quickly put him in a feud with Dreamer i knew he was gonna be ecw champ in no time.
